The wilbury

way

a beacon of empathy

We do things differently to make sure Wilbury looks and feels unlike any other practice.
We’ve put a career’s worth of experiences into creating a culture and space that feels more like a home and less like a hospital. We made simple choices: comfort over clinical, first names over last, questions over conclusions, human connection over incremental gains, and good choices over easy choices. We did this at every step.

We’re human through and through

As vets, we believe it’s not enough to have medical capabilities and a love of animals. Those should be a given. To fully care for animals, we must also extend our empathy and compassion to their owners. Over the last 25 years, our small family-run practice in Brighton has become a beacon of empathy. And we aim to shine brightly.
We promise that your trust is well-placed. We have over 100 years of combined experience. That’s unusual, even in large practices. There isn’t much we haven’t seen. However straightforward the case appears to be, we understand there’s a peace of mind that comes from double-checking and ruling things out. We’re attuned to our clients as much as our patients, taking our time with diagnostics and supporting you through any decisions. Yes, we’re professional – absolutely. But we’re never detached or clinical when we’re talking about the well-being of your pet.

In our care, they’re loved as one of our own

We’re a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) accredited general practice, which means we’re regularly assessed to make sure we’re meeting the highest industry standard. RCVS scores every area of our practice, from our in-patient service and diagnostic process through to the way we speak to our customers. We have been awarded ‘outstanding’ for our client service – the highest possible score.

Every decision becomes significant in the long-run

We make conscious choices to lower our environmental impact and run our practice with sympathy to the planet. Open our cupboards and you’ll find fair-trade and organic supplies in our tea room. Look on our roof and you’ll find it covered with solar panels that generate half our power requirements. Even when our decisions are unseen (or hard to see without a ladder), we invest in making sure we get it right.

We’re never too busy to be kind

We believe that care comes from individuals not policies. Since we first opened our doors, we’ve worked hard to attract a team of like-minded and experienced vets, nurses and support staff. We have chosen each individual for their talents and their natural close connection to our values, morals and ambitions.
